Employment Testing Opportunity
Position: Firefighter/Paramedic (Day time, 42 hrs/week)
Salary: $51,743 – $62,899 annually,
Benefits: 6 % Employee PERS paid by district, 2.5 % match Deferred Comp Plan (457),
Health insurance option for HSA VEBA max annual contribution $4240.

The District will test to establish a hiring list for two employees on a three year SAFER
This position provides a variety of general and technical skills in the field of emergency medical response,
fire suppression, hazardous materials, rescue, and fire prevention activities. The district has 11 fulltime, 10
part time and around 50 volunteer employees. It is a proactive combination department where paid and
volunteers work closely together.
The district serves a population of around 18,000, which includes the City of Sweet Home at 8,900
residents. It covers a very diverse area, situated at the base of the Cascade Mountains in East Linn County.
The area includes Foster and Green Peter Reservoir’s both excellent recreation lakes. It lies close to
metropolitan areas just one hour from Eugene and Salem. The district runs around 2800 EMS and Fire calls
annually. SAFER employees will not have a living requirement.
Must be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent.
Must be certified as NFPA Driver or equivalent.
Must have a current State of Oregon Paramedic license or the ability to obtain, prior to hire.
Must be NFPA Firefighter 1 and NFPA Haz/Mat Operations or equivalent.
Must have a current CPR certification, Health Care Provider.
